Well, it happened. School has started officially for us over here. Today we took Studious back to college for her sophomore year and I am happy to report that my fab husband and I are in MUCH better shape than we were last year. I wasn’t sure if that would be the case as the last few days were definitely emotional but today went really well.
Our Studious had initially suggested we just unload her things into her dorm room (not unpack), go to eat and then we could leave if we were ready. That is what we had prepared for as we wanted the day to go how she wanted.
When we got to her school, we did unload ALL the things into her new dorm room. Then to our delight, she asked us to stay and help move furniture. Then after that she said, “Do you mind helping me set up my bedding?” Umm, NO! Its a parent’s dream to be wanted and needed, right? Then she had us help her set up her decorations and lights. It was great. So much valuable time for us to see her in her room and help her make it what she wanted it to be. I think it was helpful for all of us.
About 4 hours later, we DID go to dinner. We enjoyed fun conversation and good laughs. It was just a great time. We then ran to the school bookstore and had a ball buying all kinds of gear to wear for the games we plan to attend this year!
When we dropped her back to her dorm, we said our goodbyes in the parking lot. There were no tears. Just love. Lots of love and ALWAYS pride.
We are proud of you, Studious. Thank you for being an AMAZING girl and a joy to raise.
ps- thanks too for letting us help today. It means more than you could know.
XOXOXOXO to the Moon and Back
As many of you know, my children are heading to school. Clever and Dapper are new to this and so I have been devising ways to make their time at school exciting and fun!
If you check out Pinterest, you will find TONS of awesome, non-traditional lunches you can prepare. Bento boxed are huge in our house and so much fun!
This evening I have come up with something else that is super fun and that I know my boys are going to love! I came across some napkins that I had stored from parties passed. I have sports teams we like, characters from shows and movies the children love, etc.
My plan is to have a new napkin in their lunchbox each day. Something that will bring a smile to their faces and let them know I was thinking about them.
I have already found two websites this evening and have added to my stock of napkins. Here are just a few I have. Believe me, there are PLENTY more!
I plan on selling the ones I do not use in my Etsy store so other moms and dads can do the same thing and get one of each napkin. Making these bundles will be very helpful to other parents out there looking to enhance their children’s childhood. I am not just making lunches, I am making memories! I currently have enough napkins that we can go 3 months in school without duplicating. Fun stuff!
So, I am looking forward for my napkins to arrive and for the little nugget of joy they will bring my boys in the middle of their school days!
Just a quick little post today of something that hit me today…
We are getting ready to see Studious off to school again. She will be a sophomore in college. I can hardly believe it.
At the same time, Clever and Dapper are going into Kindergarten and Pre-K and Spicy will be home with me enjoying Mommy time and dance class.
We are so very lucky to have this life with these amazing people.
As I was reflecting on our lives and the decisions and moments that brought us to this place, I had to smile:
Having Studious young helped catapult us into full-on adulthood and having our other little people will keep us forever young . My children really are so awesome. Its true. They are kind of magicians that way! Beautiful mystics that I get to hang out with and love AND they love us back! Life is Good! XOXO
